Our Goals
It is our goal at Zaeshinwa Birmans to produce genetically sound animals, free from infectious diseases and parasites, and being of good birman type and temperament. Therefore, in order to maintain such a standard we keep our numbers small and have a high standard of hygiene. Our cats do not come into contact with other cats and any cats brought in to assist in our breeding are quarantined and tested until we are satisfied they are free from disease. All our kittens are raised in the house and experience a wide range of stimuli and interaction during their critical socialisation period, occurring before they are 12 weeks old.
Patrick was given his first birman cat 'Sally' (pictured opposite on the left) at age 14 and became a registered birman breeder at the age of 16 in 1994. 'Sally' and her daughter 'Lola' were the foundation queens of the cattery and Sally is still thriving today well into her teens. Over the years Zaeshinwa Birmans has experienced much success in both breeding and showing birman cats and we take pride in the fact that we have bred all our own show cats and have developed what we believe to be a fairly distinct line of birmans in Australia. However, no one can achieve this on their own and we would like to acknowledge and thank those other breeders who have helped us along the way, in particular Linda Stevens with her beautiful stud cat 'Dubrova Rocketman' and all her 'Rishabha' lines. Without her help we would never have been able to breed the quality birmans we do today.
